Our Story
Broken Rock 4x4 started with Russ and his stock 1998 TJ Jeep. He couldn’t afford modifications yet but still wanted to run the big trails. That meant dragging his bumper, tailpipe, and gas tank on every obstacle. Out of necessity, he welded together the first Hitch Roller: just a wheel on an old hitch, simple but effective. As Russ continued to build and modify his Jeep over time, his need for the roller slowly faded, and it ended up tucked away in his toolbox.

Almost 20 later, when a friend’s Gladiator kept scraping the trail, Russ pulled the old roller from his toolbox and it worked perfectly. That moment sparked the idea to refine the design into the tough, trail-proven Hitch Roller we build today in our family shop, by hand, for real off-roaders.
